Demonstrations

1. Osmotically and thermally isolated multi-stage forward osmosis- membrane distillation hybrid module for hypersaline (TDS = 70-150 g/L) water treatment
2. Novel spacer designs & CO₂ nucleation for enhanced water production, fouling control,  and reduced energy consumption in desalination  

These two projects were demonstrated using prototypes at the KAUST booth in the exhibition hall. The innovative integrated FO-MD module and novel feed spacers printed with 3D printers were used for demonstration. 

Event details: This was a three days in-person event jointly arranged by the international desalination association (IDA) and saline water conversion corporation (SWCC). The event included parallel technical sessions and an exhibition and it attracted a 800+ audience, including experts from academia and industry and representatives from ministries. The KAUST booth was the most visited, and great interest was shown in the prototypes.
