We are proud to announce that Dr. M. Saqib Nawaz, a core member of the DESAL Research Group at KAUST, has received one of the prestigious Middle East WATER Awards 2025 in recognition of his transformative work in Produced Water Treatment and Reuse.

The award celebrates his innovative research and leadership in developing and implementing the Forward Osmosis–Membrane Distillation (FO-MD) Hybrid System - a cutting-edge solution that addresses water sustainability challenges by enabling the efficient reuse of produced water.

Presented during the Middle East Water Week Conference & Exhibition 2025 in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia, this recognition comes from one of the region’s most influential platforms for advancing water treatment, reuse, and sustainability. The Middle East WATER Awards highlight individuals, organizations, and initiatives that have made outstanding contributions to water science, technology, and stewardship.

Dr. Nawaz’s work stands at the intersection of innovation and real-world impact, delivering scalable solutions to one of the most critical challenges in the energy and water sectors: safely and efficiently reusing produced water.
